I just returned from the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) National Convention. It was a wonderful experience, a great time of fellowship, connecting with brothers and sisters in Christ from around the country…and even around the world. One of the topics that was relevant to my role as an LCMS university president was a resolution related to the LIMOS (Lutheran Identity Mission Outcome Standards).
I know that there is some measure of anxiety or concern about the LIMOS. Some are even concerned with the phrase “Lutheran identity.” Yet, I wanted to take some time in this podcast to offer a different perspective on the LIMOS, and to make a case for why I believe that the LIMOS are a beautiful gift, not only to Lutheran universities, but to Lutheran education as a whole.
So in this podcast, I go through standard by standard…each of the seven, and I explain how they draw us back to God’s Word. Because at the heart of a faithful and flourishing Lutheran school are the Holy Scriptures, which point us to Christ and all of God’s good gifts.
